A Fresh Start

I am considering tomorrow my Fresh Start. I am going to examine how we live and what I can improve. I am going to restart simplifying and finding ways to make life easier. I am going to do things which will improve the status of our home, our connections to each other and the world around us.

Food is a big one. I stock pile. My church encourages its members to have, if possible, a year supply of all needs. I have many areas covered a year and then a few more. Some may feel that this isn't compatible with simple living but I feel it is. Theoretically, I don't have to shop as much (this is a big thing I need to work on!!). I could not step foot in a store for however many months and we would not be deprived in any way. Unfortunately, I need to get the kids liking foods they don't eat. Namely beans. I know clever ways to disguise them but there are only so many treats they can have. I made taco pinto beans for lunch and they wouldn't even eat one on a tortilla chip covered with cheese. Sigh, and they were so yummy too. I'm going to make bean based muffins and cookies tomorrow and try to health them up a bit.

I will soon post pictures again of our food storage. I just need to neaten it up a bit for my company :). I got a load of canned goods this week that need to be dated and put away.

Speaking of stockpiling, one thing I have noticed in the last year visiting sites which discuss frugality if the world of couponing. Unfortunately it isn't big in Canada because no where here does doubling, there are no catanas (or whatever they're called), I don't know anywhere that will take more than one coupon on one product (even if they're different) plus there is a gross lack of decent coupons in Canada. I went through some of mine today and with the sale this week I will be able to stock up on some items. I usually grab some coupons if I see them in the store and it's an item we will use.

So if you're in Canada and want a few coupon/deals sites, here you go:
